The future of EU Gender equalities policies - What's next?

"The future of EU Gender equality policies – What’s next?”

Translation German-English will be provided

This year the Strategy for Equality between Women and Men in the European Union (EU) 2010-2015 comes to an end. It is the EU’s central document with regards to gender equality and a comprehensive framework committing the EU and its member states to achieve progress in the field of gender equality. So far no document framing the key priorities of the EU for gender equality for the years 2016 to 2021 was formally announced or presented.

Against this background the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung EU Office would like to invite you to discuss the importance of the future Strategy for Equality between Women and Men in the EU and key priorities for future EU gender equality policies with representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Presidency of the Council of the EU as well as NGOs and academia.

Together we want to have a closer look at the recommendations by the European Parliament set out in the report on the EU strategy adopted in June 2015 and evaluate the strengths, weaknesses and gaps of the current strategy for gender equality. How can the European Union, EU member states and local and regional governments together built a more gender equal Europe?

The event is organized in cooperation with MEP Maria Noichl and the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the EU.

Please find the draft programme on our FES website.

Please register until 4 November 2015 here.
