Note from the Chair of FEMM Committee
The next FEMM Committee meetings will take place on Tuesday 28 February in Brussels, with a wide variety of reports, hearings and votes to fill the schedule.
In the morning, our members will attend a joint meeting with the AGRI Committee, during which they will vote on the report on "Women and their roles in rural areas".
During the afternoon, the FEMM Committee meeting will begin at 15.00 with an exchange of views with Ms Christine Aumayr from EuroFound discussing issues related to work-life balance, followed by an exchange of views with Ms Viviane Willis-Mazzichi (Head of Sector on Gender, DG Research and Innovation) and Ms Barbara Limanowska (senior gender mainstreaming officer from EIGE) discussing gender equality plans and Horizon 2020. The Committee will then consider its draft opinion on the "Assessment of Horizon 2020 implementation in view of its interim evaluation and the Framework Programme 9 proposal."
Afterwards, Prof. Liz Kelly will present her study entitled ‘Knowledge and know-how: the role of self-defence in the prevention of violence against women’ after which, the Members will consider the working document for the upcoming draft report on "Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Private and Public Sectors in the EU".
At 17.00, voting will begin with the adoption of the FEMM opinion on the European Accessibility Act followed by the adoption of the gender mainstreaming amendments to the draft report on "Addressing human rights violations in the context of war crimes, and crimes against humanity, including genocide".
