RoSa vzw — Feminism in the Arts

RoSa vzw — Feminism in the Arts (Conversation/Panel Talk)
• Location: Bar Area & Public Programme Space (-1 Level)

The Belgian artistic field still has a long way to go when it comes to equality and women’s rights. Women, and especially women of colour, are underrepresented in positions of power. Recent statistics of Kunstenpunt reveal that the arts are still dominated by male leadership, certainly in large institutions. At the same time female artists struggle more than their male colleagues to pursue a career in the arts and when they do succeed, they earn less for the same kind of work. On top of that, #metoo reminded us of the brutal washouts of sexism and male dominance. Cultural magazine rekto:verso and RoSa, centre of knowledge on gender and feminism, therefore present this conversation on feminism in the arts. Together with philosopher Petra Van Brabandt, Saddie Choua,Jemima Kulumba, Zeynep Kubat we’ll discuss the stakes in this debate.
