Panel discussion and concert around “Medusa” (La Monnaie & Amazone)

An evening to discuss and share on the topic of ending violence against women

In Medusa, librettist and director Lydia Steier depicts the psychological consequences of the rape suffered by her heroine… In collaboration with the non-profit organisation Amazone, La Monnaie is organising a panel discussion focusing on the topic of violence against women. In the presence of Lydia Steier, artists, researchers and specialists, will explore the myth of Medusa and its various (re)interpretations, including the opera’s libretto, from a historical and feminist perspective.

The discussions will also feature a performance by the Chœur Cassandra Koor, who will sing a programme of protest songs championing the rights of women and gender minorities.

Claire Lafon, project officer at Université des Femmes with a PhD in History and Political Science (UCLouvain Saint Louis & Sorbonne Nouvelle).

Sophie Delacollette, co-director and co-author of the show Méduse·s.

Sarah Théry, singer, journalist and co-artistic director of the Collectif Meute.
