How can we foster feminist futures while facing a world in the grip of multiple crises? Across the globe, undemocratic systems are bolstered by authoritarian politics, deepening inequality, collapsing infrastructures of public care, climate catastrophe, forced displacement, and ongoing genocides. These multilayered and intersecting crises cannot be understood separately from the histories on which modern democracies themselves were built: histories of colonialism, racial capitalism, extraction, and exclusion.
This conference is an invitation to move beyond mere reaction. Rather than allowing oppressive systems to define us, we focus on creating our own narratives and possibilities. We will gather to think together about strategies to foster self-determination, radical imagination, bodily autonomy, sustaining our organisations, alternative technological and political futures, and stronger foundations for our solidarities in practice.
Building on four years of research, CCINDLE and Sophia bring together critical research, activist knowledge, and lived experience as equal and entangled sources of insight, refusing the hierarchies that privilege academic expertise over the ways of knowing and lived experiences of organisers and communities.
The event is free and open to the public, with lunch provided, but registration is required. You can register here.
